This is my thought. She showed, with that tweet and especially the response to it, that she’s uninformed on what rhetoric the right is using to attack trans rights and demonize trans people. All it should have taken was one person saying “reread your own tweet and realize you sound exactly like a TERF, oh by the way Ben Shapiro retweeted it approvingly” and she should have said immediately “oh oops I see it my mistake” (actually she should have been mortified). She didn’t do the work…and in my case “the work” was following trans folk on Twitter and YouTube, so like not exactly that hard.

I’m sure this will get downvoted, but Ana has never been someone I’d consider intellectual, and she really lacks intellectual curiosity when it comes to most issues.
I work in finance and do project management for a bank, specifically in lending strategy, and her frequent segments on the housing market and mortgage lending are painfully uninformed. It’s evident immediately that she has zero clue what she’s talking about despite claiming she rigorously researches topics

The whole issue of culture wars distracts us from the main task of fighting against capitalism and oppression which should be our main focus. You’re right that there are other transphobes to but most of the discourse in the U.K. seems to revolve around TERF talking points etc so maybe that’s why?
Just to make a point on feminism in general and this may be slightly controversial but we need to be absolutely clear about our position; I understand why people want to use the term "feminist" as a shorthand for equality between men and women but in doing so they are completely ignoring that feminism is a bourgeois ideology based on individual solutions, not class-based ones. Feminism sets as its goals things like "more women CEO's" and electing Hillary Clinton. It limits the movement to things that are safe for the ruling class like "representation". Instead we should be rejecting the bourgeoise and their ideologies completely, they have no solutions for us. I believe that just using the term "communist" works much better when describing our ideology. It inherently contains the liberation of women and all oppressed groups and the destruction of the economic roots of oppression within it. Then the whole discussion of trans exclusionary becomes superfluous because of course we support our trans comrades, that's a given.
I mean the bourgeoise and their representatives in academia are not going to arm us with ideas that we can use to overthrow them. In fact it's these kinds of bourgeois ideas that limit the movement and channel our energy in to things like idpol that are safe for the capitalists reddit socia

The distinction is important because medications effect people who have cycling uterus’s differently than those who do not. Regardless of how you feel about your womanhood. The term “people who menstruate” concisely describe that group of people, where the word “woman” does not.

Just like I would never call a man who can give birth a "person who menstruates". I'd refer to them as "a man who...."

i don't have the capacity to engage with the main point of this thread atm as i feel a lot of people here are not in great faith. i just wanted to say that i've found it very endearing seeing sam who as recently as 12 months ago was absolutely awful on trans inclusive language, clumsily getting better with his language. as you say, he's clearly trying.
Ana’s paranoid and when anything can be remotely seen as a potential inconvenience to her personally, she’ll take a right wing turn (e.g. a homeless guy harassed her once, so she wants them all thrown in the gulag etc.).
In this case, since she identifies as woman, she’s defensive and paranoid about anything related to that topic. Kinda similar to the nimby-ism, just with a different issue.
She’s a Karen. But yeah, can’t expect Emma to go to war over Ana’s bad statement I don’t think. There’s a limit to how much interpersonal conflict is healthy or makes sense to engage in, and maybe picking her previous coworker and friend would be more on the unhealthy side.

Disagree. Most radlib types aren't gonna post here because they don't usually bother engaging with people outside their bubble. They don't actually care about effective political advocacy or winning people over as long as they maintain their standards of purity.
Rightoids, on the other hand, are more than willing to proselytize their beliefs to the unwashed masses, even if it means resorting to outright dishonesty or "hiding their power level". That's what makes them dangerous. They're perfectly happy to try and blend in here by making low effort "Idpol bad" posts while linking to far-right media sources and subtly pushing their own narratives. Radlibs don't care about co-opting this sub, since they've already written us off for failing all of their arbitrary purity tests, but rightoids absolutely will try and co-opt the sub if given enough breathing room.

Horseshit, "idpol" refers to ideology that beleive identity (or specific identities) grant special access to truth. Opposing liberalism - economic or social, both are forms of parasitism - isn't in itself idpol, its common decency. Moreover, the OP is trying to use a "foot in the door" tactic by implying that our opposition to liberalism means we must support every position of whoever owns "libs of tiktok" account, and that in order to avoid this we have to avoid talking about these issues, which implicitly means surrendering to the liberal position on them. stupidpol

Virtually every radlib I know of refuses to even be informed of what the other side believes from the other side. Like I would tell them that I keep some conservative friends on facebook because 1. it honestly doesn't bother me if some fucking dumbass posts some fucking dumbass memes complaining about liberals--in fact it humors me and 2. you actually learn what their stances are.
Their stances are always stupid but you actually understand where they're coming from. Funny reading on reddit about how conservatives are pro-book burning supposedly even though reading a couple conservative posts on facebook makes it obvious that conservatives view 1984 as their second bible and overextend it even more than liberals do (even though it was written by a socialist).
I try to explain this benefit to far-rightists and they agree with me and many of them purposely keep up with lib/left points of view. I try to explain it to radlibs and they look at me like I have three heads and think I'm pro-fascist because I expose myself to fascist viewpoints of "people who want [them] dead".
They think alternate viewpoints act as a mindvirus and will propagate through society (thus all this discourse about pipelines). Says a lot that they don't think their own ideological system is strong enough to battle it through simple discourse.
